It comes with a new hart rate monitor strap, which is a lot more comfortable than the old ECG chest strap of the earlier models. Other improvements to this latest release feature an option to completely switch off the watch in order to save on battery life and the option to view either the GPS mode or the regular watch mode.

Like it’s predecessors the Garmin Forerunner 410 lets you customize the various data which are available in order for you adapt the settings to your personal needs. It also comes with a Virtual Partner function which can prove to be very useful since you can program it set a certain pace and then it will constantly update you by letting you know if you are ahead, lagging back or spot on the preset pace.

As for the battery lifer, the Garmin Forerunner 410 is built to last about 8 hours in full GPS function. There also are several optional devices you can purchase for the Garmin 410 such as a leg strap and a bicycle mount.  These accessories can prove really helpful while training on the bike or while jogging. The color scheme available for this watch it also much nicer than what the previous models had to offer and as an extra bonus the controls can now be pressed with the hand protection on, which is a very useful upgrade especially for training in cold weather.

All the data captured by the Garmin Forerunner 410 can be transferred for storage or analysis on a computer via the inbuilt USB port.  And you don’t have to worry if it’s compatible with your operating system since it runs perfectly both on Windows and on Safari. Some extra functions are the Automatic Pause which is really great for stoplights and the Autolap, and also the upgraded bezel control which allows you scroll a lot faster to various screens and modes.
